This budget list is derived from multiple construction budgeting spreadsheet suggestions and several moments of research by IE CLT staff.

These costs are also covered by the CalHFA ADU grant. Sewage hookups costs $1,400 on average, with a typical range of $530 and $2,279.
Excavation, grading and backfill run about $15 per square foot. While land with light vegetation and a low slope averages between $3 and $6 per square foot.
Footings run from $3 to $7 per square foot. If your land is flat and easy to dig in, estimate closer to $3 and if you live on the steep side of an active volcano, estimate closer to $7.
A poured concrete basement averages aproximatly $20,000 added to the cost of the footing.
Decks and Porches run about $6,500 - $10,000 but it can be a lot more depending on size and materials.
Windows ($200 - $500 each), Doors ($500 - $800 each) and the flashing material for the doors and windows add another $200. A good range is $5,000 to $16,000 depending on the number and quality.

Carpet $1,600 to $6,800, Hardwood $6,000 to $12,000, Fake Hardwood Laminate flooring would cost $1400 to $3,400 and Tile would be $6,000 to $9,000

$5,000 to $12,000 depending on SEER rating and the amount of ductwork. A 900 sf A frame is going to be closer to $6,000.
Appliances can run between $3,500 to $15,000 depending on the price of the appliances.

This total is a rough estimate that should give you a good idea on how much it would cost to build an ADU. The CalHFA ADU Grant will cover some costs if you are qualified (Household Income is less than $173,000 a year and you use one of CalHFA's approved lenders).
